Meet Ensign’s Tough MuddersAugust 1, 2013 Leave your thoughts
With less than two months to go, the Ensign guys, and girl, have been putting in the hours at the gym and on the roads in preparation for the South West’s Tough Mudder endurance event.
Ensign’s Team of Six, Plan to Tackle the 12 mile obstacle course for the Poole Hospital Charity, with all money raised going to their cancer unit. The military-style course has been designed to test the physical strength and stamina of each participant, as they are made to swim, climb, scramble, and fall through 24 daunting obstacles.
Leaning on the most innate of human fears, competitors can expect to be pitted against extreme heights, fire, and even up to 10,000 volts of electric current in an obstacle named, the electric eel. To encourage teamwork and comradery, the course is made difficult to complete as an individual – something the Ensign Team hope will work in their favour.
The Tough Mudder event, promoted as being “Probably the Toughest Event on the Plant”, is set to take place on the 21st and 22nd of September in Crickhowell, Wales. Ensign hope that by taking part in the event, they can raise some funds to support the great work and staff at Poole Hospital.
James Jeffries, one of Ensign’s team, said: “Apart from having a good day out and challenging ourselves, we are pleased to be raising money for such a good local cause. It’s hard to find anyone who hasn’t been affected by cancer in some way; we hope our donation can help a little”.
